Outverge: What's the story behind your single U 2 Rare? What inspired you to write it and what do you hope listeners take away from it?
SDBoomin adn Globalqtheartist: U 2 Rare is a song about when you first spot that woman that stands out in the crowd and you know that she is the person that you want to shoot your shot at. The song feels so good. It has an infectious vibe that will put listeners in a great mood. I was inspired to write this song because the track that SDBoomin made took me back to when I was doing a performance and while on stage I spotted a girl that stood out from the rest. I'm hoping that listeners are taken back to the day when they saw their special person for the first time and I'm hoping they play this song over and over because it brings them back to that special day when their lives were changed due to them meeting their special person.
Outverge: How do you approach songwriting? Do you have a specific process or do you let the music come to you naturally?
SDBoomin adn Globalqtheartist: When I write songs I use a method that I call embellished reality. This method is where I listen to a track to see how the track makes me feel. Next, I come up with a keyword or a concept that I feel is suitable for the track. Next, I start mumbling melodies. This helps to build a skeleton of a song and from there I build out the song with clever lyrics to make the song interesting and colorful.
Outverge: You've had some notable collaborations in the past. What do you look for in a collaborator and what's your favorite part about working with other artists?
SDBoomin adn Globalqtheartist: When i collab I like to work with artists that don't mind friendly competition because I always try to have the best verse on the song lol
Outverge: How do you balance staying true to your artistic vision with the pressures of commercial success and pleasing your fans?
SDBoomin adn Globalqtheartist: I think we are in a new era of music where authenticity wins. I make the type of music that I love to listen to. I believe that taking on this approach helps to maintain my artistic vision. I know I will always portray my authentic self with each song that I do as long as I make the kind of music that I love to listen to.
Outverge: Who are some of your biggest influences and how have they shaped your sound and style?
SDBoomin adn Globalqtheartist: Growing up I became heavily influenced by 90's r&b. My favorite group back in the day was H-Town. I loved the lead singer of the group, Dino. Listening to Dino and H-Town inspired me to want to sing and become a musician. Some of my other notable influencers are R Kelly, Future and Bryson Tiller. I love these 3 artists because they are dope writers as well as artists.
Outverge: What's been the most surreal or memorable experience you've had as a musician so far? Was it a show, a meeting with a fan, or something else entirely?
SDBoomin adn Globalqtheartist: I would have to say an interaction with a fan after a show. A young lady sent her brother over to me to get my number after a show because she loved the show and wanted to know more about me. I was super humbled and it inspired me to keep doing music because I have real people following my journey.
Outverge: How do you handle criticism or negative feedback from fans or critics? Do you have any strategies for dealing with online trolls or haters?
SDBoomin adn Globalqtheartist: As long as I know I'm putting out my best work and what feels and sounds like good music to me I'm not phased by negative criticism. Music is ART and there is no one song or musical style that is universally liked by every one on this earth. Negative comments and criticism is expected. This just means that maybe I'm marketing to the wrong demographic or maybe that person is crazy lol
Outverge: Can you tell us about your creative process when it comes to production and recording music? Do you have any favorite producers or studios that you work with?
SDBoomin adn Globalqtheartist: I prefer to record music in my home studio. When I'm home I think clearer and I'm at ease because I'm in my comfort zone with no other outside influences in my ears humming melodies or saying concepts that different come from in between my two ears. SDBoomin is definitely one of my favorite producers. He produced U 2 Rare as well as four other songs that we've created that will be releasing soon. Some of my other favorite producers that I've worked with are Marri Cozzy and SOWNDGOOD. I met them from purchasing beats off of the Beatstars website.
Outverge: How do you stay connected with your fans and engage with them on social media? Do you have any favorite platforms or ways of interacting with your audience?
SDBoomin adn Globalqtheartist: I mainly stay connected to fans via Instagram. I make sure that I always respond to dm's and comments that fans leave on my social media posts.
Outverge: What's next for you musically? Are there any upcoming projects or tours that fans can look forward to, and what are you hoping to achieve in the next year?
SDBoomin adn Globalqtheartist: Right now I'm focused on the releasing the 5 songs in total project that SDBoomin and I have worked on. I feel that we have great chemistry and we've created some very good songs that I hope our audiences will connect with in a big way. After these 5 songs I plan on releasing my debut album Foreign Lands which will include a few singles that are out now along with some new songs that I've been working on specifically for my debut album! In the next year I'm hoping to connect with more fans and continue to the show the world that i'm here and i'm putting out great songs. If any r&b lovers like to listen to Byrson Tiller, Che Ecru, Brent Faiyaz and R&B type songs that Future makes please give me a listen. I know you'll love the vibes that I've been putting out and please dm me or comment on a post so that I know you stopped by!
