WESTERN COLORADO — August 14, 2026 — Western Colorado Gothic rock band Voltaire’s Ghost returns with “’Till the Break of Day,” the fourth single from its debut full-length album Black Petals Fallen. Released August 14, the slow-burning romantic track reveals a softer, more emotionally vulnerable side of the band, telling the bittersweet story of two people who have only one night together before life and fate conspire to separate them forever.

Built around longing, intimacy, and the fleeting nature of connection, “’Till the Break of Day” stands apart from some of Voltaire’s Ghost’s darker, harder-rocking material. The song began as an older demo written by guitarist Magnus before the current incarnation of the band came together. After joining forces with vocalist Ruby and drummer Josh, the original sketch evolved into something more expansive and emotionally resonant.

“We took it from a rough sketch to a beautiful painting,” Magnus says.

That evolution is central to the band’s collaborative songwriting process. Rather than fitting neatly into one creative lane, Magnus, Ruby, and Josh bring distinct musical backgrounds and influences to Voltaire’s Ghost, creating a sound rooted in Gothic rock while allowing room for unexpected emotional and melodic turns. The song’s emotional core also reflects one of the recurring themes at the heart of the band’s music: love, loss, and the fleeting nature of human connection.

“Love and death are subjects for our lyrics/topics we explore and keep coming back to,” the band explains. Josh points to one lyric in particular as a favorite: “the only thing worse than not having met you is having met you.”

Since its current incarnation launched in 2023, Voltaire’s Ghost has built a growing presence across the live music landscape, touring throughout California, Texas, and Colorado and making multiple appearances at Los Angeles’ historic Whisky A Go-Go, as well as several venues during South by Southwest in Austin.

The band’s 2025 breakthrough included three US Mediabase Top 40 singles. “Death Becomes You” reached the chart in February, followed by “Alix Street” at No. 35 in May and “Spirit Animal,” which peaked at No. 37 in October and surpassed 150,000 streams. Voltaire’s Ghost was also named a semi-finalist in the Rolling Stone co-sponsored America’s Next Top Hitmaker competition from more than 70,000 original contestants. Meanwhile, the album’s title track, “Black Petals Fallen,” reached No. 4 on the Emerging 300 Chart.

Recorded at Fusion Audio Solutions in Grand Junction, Colorado, and mixed and mastered in Los Angeles by Grammy-nominated engineer Joe Ayoub, Black Petals Fallen captures the full scope of Voltaire’s Ghost’s developing sound.

“’Till the Break of Day” is now available on major streaming platforms as part of the album’s waterfall release, with additional singles scheduled to arrive over the coming weeks. The full album is available for digital purchase through Bandcamp, with vinyl pre-orders available through the band’s official website.
