Cardi B Reflects on Managing Her Career While Raising Her Children

Cardi B has opened up about how she 'beat the odds' while managing both motherhood and a demanding career.

The rapper has four children, Kulture, 8, Wave, 4, Blossom, 23 months, and a nine month old son.

The Grammy Award winning performer explained that she hoped to show people that women can raise children while continuing to succeed in a demanding profession.

"I feel like I, I'm not going to say like set an example," Cardi shared during an interview with Vogue. "But it's like I showed a lot of women that it's like you could still work hard and you could still be able to beat the odds with having a baby, and the media, and the criticising, and work hard and get your job done."

She added, "I try my best to have my kids around me as much as possible, but sometimes I can't be with them. Mothers have to make sacrifices. It's sad, but we need to look at the bigger picture. I hope that my kids look at what I do and understand, 'Mom was working her ass off.' She wasn't clubbing, she wasn't dating, she wasn't partying...Instead, she was making sacrifices for a better living, you know what I'm saying?"

In 2019, the 33 year old star earned the Grammy for Best Rap Album with Invasion of Privacy, becoming the first solo female rapper to claim the honour.
