Watch newly discovered footage of Oasis performing in Glasgow in 1994

Rare footage of Oasis performing in Scotland before the arrival of ‘Definitely Maybe’ has been released publicly for the first time.

The newly released recording shows the Britpop band playing at the Tramway in Glasgow on April 7, 1994, several months before their hugely successful debut album arrived.

The video remained largely unavailable for more than 30 years. It finally resurfaced when it appeared at auction in August 2025, prompting fans to combine their money, purchase the recording and release it for everyone to see.

Supporters organised their bid through the Live4Ever forum, spending almost £3,000 to obtain both the video and its licensing rights.

A message published on the Oasis Archive website explains that the group wanted to protect the rare material from disappearing. They are now inviting other fans to donate so the expense can be shared more evenly across the community.

Running for approximately 30 minutes, the recording follows Oasis members Liam and Noel Gallagher, Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs, Paul “Guigsy” McGuigan and Tony McCarroll as they prepare for the concert. The musicians can be seen drinking beer and speaking backstage before the performance, with additional footage capturing their conversations as they get ready to leave afterward.

When Oasis walk onto the stage, Liam is wearing his recognisable red and white striped jumper and lifts his arms while the group is introduced. He plays a star shaped tambourine throughout the concert as the band opens with ‘Shakermaker’, followed by ‘Digsy’s Dinner’ and ‘Live Forever’.

While singing ‘Cigarettes And Alcohol’, Liam initially leans toward the microphone with both hands gripping the stand. He later adopts the familiar pose of placing his hands behind his back before Oasis finishes the set with ‘Supersonic’.

In an update posted through Oasis Archive, the fans responsible for securing the recording explained that they had kept it “exclusive for people who donated for a while – we go public with the article to everyone”.

The group also made the “FM radio broadcast audio from the night” available with the video. Both recordings can be accessed here, while anyone interested in contributing toward the purchase can learn more through this page.

After viewing the recording, one fan wrote on Reddit: “Thank you so much for this. Love watching footage from the very early days – pure gold! Liam’s star-shaped tambourine and his white-red jumper (there are many photos of Liam wearing it and even some with Noel in it, so they probably shared it <3) are both so iconic!”

Another viewer shared their enthusiasm and listed several favourite moments, including the tambourine, the “pre and post-gig coverage”, and the “progression of Liam’s stance from start (holding mic and mic stand) to hands behind back) midway”.

The arrival of the 1994 footage comes as reports suggest Oasis could follow their major 2025 reunion tour with another series of UK and European concerts in 2027. Speculated plans include a 12 night homecoming residency in Manchester and another visit to Knebworth.

Talk of Oasis returning to the Hertfordshire venue has continued since 2025, when a British peer claimed that Liam and Noel would perform five consecutive anniversary concerts there in 2026. She later withdrew the statement.

Although no dates have been officially announced, a 2027 tour appears increasingly possible. Liam raised expectations among fans in December by writing: “Bring on 2027… I mean 2026”. He later told an X user that Oasis would “without a doubt, 100 per cent” perform in Rome in 2027.

More recently, the promoter responsible for Oasis’ enormous Live ‘25 tour received a licence to organise concerts at Knebworth, adding further momentum to speculation about a return in 2027.

While additional concerts remain possible, Liam has appeared to dismiss calls for another Oasis album. Responding to the suggestion on X, he wrote: “No. I’m just not prepared for the criticism if it doesn’t sell 100 million copies in the first hour, cure bad breath and constipation for the nation, if it doesn’t turn back time for Cher and some other shit. Let’s just do some gigs and be happy, thank you.”

Oasis are also preparing to release a new documentary directed by Steven Knight next month after unveiling its first trailer earlier this summer.

Don’t Look Back In Anger will arrive in cinemas and IMAX on September 11. The film will later stream internationally through Disney+ and Hulu during 2026. Recent previews feature Liam and Noel backstage predicting that the reunion concerts were “going to be chaos”.

It has since been reported that Liam and Noel will appear together at the Venice Film Festival for the documentary’s premiere.
