As the child of a rock legend, Violet Grohl knows exactly what goes into making a great alternative album. On May 29, the “THUM” artist released her first record, Be Sweet to Me. The project combines roaring guitars with beautifully eerie vocals, bringing back the strongest qualities of the 1990s grunge period without depending too heavily on sentimental references. Last Friday, the rising musician celebrated the album with a packed performance at Baby’s All Right, while offering fans an early glimpse of what they can expect from her forthcoming global tour. Before stepping onto the stage, Grohl invited us along for a day filled with secondhand shopping, relaxing in the sunshine, and wandering through a cemetery.
