Echo and The Bunnymen were forced to delay a concert only hours before showtime after their frontman Ian McCulloch was involved in a road traffic accident.

The Liverpool group had been set to appear at The Fillmore Philadelphia on June 7, but the 67 year old vocalist was reportedly left “shaken” following the incident and needed medical attention. While his injuries are not thought to be severe, the unexpected situation meant the performance could not proceed as planned.

A statement posted on social media said: “While travelling from Washington, D.C. to Philadelphia, Ian McCulloch’s vehicle was involved in a road traffic incident. As a result, Ian required medical treatment.

Thankfully, the injuries sustained are not believed to be serious; however, as you can appreciate, he has been left understandably shaken by the incident. As a precautionary measure, Ian is undergoing further medical assessment, including scans and X-rays.

After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to postpone tonight's performance in Philadelphia.

Postponing a show is always a last resort. We never want to disappoint our fans, and we know many of you will have made plans to attend this evening's concert.

We kindly ask ticket holders to retain their tickets while we work through the next steps. A further update regarding the show will be provided as soon as possible.

We sincerely apologise for the disappointment and inconvenience caused, and thank you for your understanding and support."

The postponed concert has now been moved to tonight (09.06.26), with original tickets still valid. Fans unable to attend the rescheduled date will be able to request refunds through their original point of purchase.
